Personal Initiatives…

These people would love to hear from you if you are interested in what they are doing - especially if you have any experience or advice to offer!

It is becoming well-accepted that music can bring people together, whatever their tribe or race, reducing crime and improving quality of life. YOM is working with young men in the community to involve them in music, and through that, in the Church. They need advice on obtaining sponsors, instruments and funding.

Sophia has composed many Gospel songs which are popular locally. Together with a choir of children from the Home, she wants to produce a CD which could be marketed to raise funds. There is a risk of piracy!

Nyolo Primary School hopes to replace their rapidly-deteriorating buildings with new ones, using a new technology. They also want to make the school self-sufficient through setting-up and running a school farm. To take advantage of government schemes to support sport, and to improve cohesion within the communities they serve, they would like to make a sports pitch for formal competitive sports. One member of staff is also committed to managing village funds and savings so that the more able children can attend good secondary schools. They have many ideas but little experience!
